Publishing
If you would like to propose a topic for a special issue of the journal, please send your proposal to the editorial office at econth@iki.bas.bg. Please present the topic and explain why you believe it would be of interest to the academic community. It would be helpful to suggest sample subtopics and potential guest editors.
The journal "Economic Thought" publishes original scientific research in the fields of economic theory, economic policy, finance, international economics, regional development, innovation, management, accounting, and related scientific areas.
Only manuscripts that meet the following criteria are accepted for publication:
- represent an original scientific contribution;
- have not been published and are not simultaneously under review in another scientific journal;
- comply with the principles of academic ethics.
Types of publications: original research articles; review articles.
Manuscripts are accepted in: Bulgarian; English; French.
Manuscript requirements – the article should be prepared according to the journal's format and should include:
- title;
- author's/authors' names;
- institutional affiliation;
- ORCID (recommended);
- corresponding e-mail address;
- abstract (up to 250 words);
- up to 5 keywords;
- JEL Classification codes;
- main text, which should preferably include an introduction, literature review, research methodology, research results, discussion of results, and conclusion;
- acknowledgements (if any);
- bibliography.
Length: recommended length of 3,000 to 10,000 words (6–20 pages).
Formatting: manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.docx). Basic requirements: A4 page size; Times New Roman, 12 pt; 1.5 line spacing; 2.5 cm margins; numbered pages.
Tables and figures: every table and figure must have a number, a title, and a source.
Conflict of interest: authors are required to declare the presence or absence of a conflict of interest by submitting a Conflict of Interest Declaration using the journal's template – coiauth-bg.doc.

The journal follows APA 7th Style. All sources used must be cited in the text and included in the bibliography. Use of a DOI is recommended whenever available.
Sources in Cyrillic script must be transliterated into Latin script when cited.
Ethical Standards
The journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Authors declare that:
- the submitted work is original;
- all co-authors have agreed to its publication;
- there is no plagiarism, fabrication, or manipulation of data;
- all sources are properly cited.
The author is responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions for the use of copyrighted materials in the manuscript.
Artificial Intelligence Policy
The use of artificial intelligence systems (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) must be declared when they have been used in the preparation of the manuscript.
Authors bear full responsibility for the content, the accuracy of the data, the interpretation of the results, and the originality of the text. Artificial intelligence systems may not be listed as authors of scientific publications.
Authors retain their copyright. All articles are licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0. This license allows the content to be shared and adapted for non-commercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given.
Upon acceptance for publication, authors grant the publisher a non-exclusive right to publish and distribute the article.
